Northern industrial green transition investments – analysis and steps for future

Northern areas have great potential in green transition investments. Investment bottlenecks can be solved together. Analyzing the situation and producing concrete proposals can help to realize the potential.

The work initiated by Lapland Chamber of Commerce and The Finnish Presidency of the Euro Arctic Council BEAC explores the bottlenecks of green transition industrial investments and proposes measures to remove them. In addition, potential synergistic benefits are identified from the industrial operations point of view. Work is funded by the Presidency of the Euro Arctic Council BEAC and done in cooperation with Gaia Consulting expert team.

The framework of Barents Euro Arctic Council takes into account the following areas:
Finland: Lapland, North Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and North Karelia
Sweden: Norrbotten and Västerbotten
Norway: Nordland, Troms and Finnmark

The work process includes several cooperation events (e.g. interviews, workshops, presentations etc.). A consulting company has been tendered for the process. The consult facilitates the events and prepares the strategy report.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has granted funding for the consulting services. The strategy will be presented at the 30th anniversary of the Barents cooperation in February 2023.
