The ’Briefing paper: Investments, Business Outlook, and Potential in the Barents Region’ report, released by the Lapland Chamber of Commerce in 2022, presented an overview based on 2021 data concerning investment potential in the Barents region. This report serves as the basis for the current study.
The need to update the aforementioned report is evident. The global political and economic landscape has undergone significant changes since 2021, including Russia’s actions in Ukraine, COVID-19 pandemic, energy crises, and unprecedented inflation. Additionally, the inclusion of Finland and Sweden in NATO, along with supply security considerations, will increasingly shape future investment requirements in the study area.
