Northern areas have great potential in green transition investments. Investment bottlenecks can be solved together. Analyzing the situation and producing concrete proposals can help to realize the potential.
The work initiated by Lapland Chamber of Commerce and Barents Euro Arctic Council BEAC explores the bottlenecks of green transition industrial investments and proposes measures to remove them. In addition, potential synergistic benefits are identified from the industrial operations point of view. Work in funded by BEAC and done in cooperation with Gaia Consulting expert team.
The goal of the work is to produce concrete proposals to realize the investment potential of the north.
The strategy presents measures for regional, national, joint country and EU-level decisions and measures to speed up investments.
The report takes into account the following areas:
• Finland (Lapland, North Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and North Karelia)
• Sweden (Norrbotten & Västerbotten)
• Norway (Finnmark, Troms, Nordland)
The work process begins in September 2022 and includes several cooperation events (e.g. interviews, workshops, presentations etc.). The report will be presented at the 30th anniversary of the Barents cooperation in February 2023.
